These are ways to protect yourself from the negative energy directed toward you or caused by things in your environment. I have used all of these at some point, but the last one is the most powerful one when you are being bombarded with negative energy unchecked.
I’ll start with a disclaimer now: if anything I share here helps you, great! Take what works for you and leave the rest behind, as they say. The practices are simple things anyone can do, so there’s no need to feel intimidated about using them. Also, keep in mind that everyone has different beliefs (or lack thereof). Therefore it might take some trial and error before finding something that truly resonates with you spiritually / energetically.
I want to cover how you can protect yourself from negative energy – whether directed toward you (or someone else) or caused by things in your environment. This can be done by using different methods such as crystals, aromatherapy, essential oils, sage, and even the power of prayer. These practices are simple and suitable for anyone with just a little bit of research and effort.

1) Crystals/gems: You can carry gemstones in your pocket or wear them on jewelry around your neck, wrist, etc. They will help absorb any negativity floating around so it doesn’t affect you. Some of the most common crystals used for this purpose are Amethyst, Black Tourmaline, and Quartz. They also come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, from big ones hidden under clothing to small ones that you can carry in your pocket. If you’re unsure which crystal is best for protecting against negative energy, opt for a Clear Quartz because it has an equal y balancing effect on both positive and negative energy.
2) Essential oils: You have probably heard of aromatherapy by now, so I won’t explain how essential oils work. But I will tell you what my top 3 favorite essential oils are to use as protection from negative energy: Lavender, Sandalwood, and Frankincense. Lavender is excellent for keeping in your bedroom to protect yourself while sleeping. Sandalwood smells amazing! I use it mostly when I’m meditating or doing yoga because it makes my room smell good, but it also has a robust protective effect. And lastly, I like using Frankincense a lot because of its calming and grounding properties.
3) Sage: This stuff is powerful beyond belief! It cleanses the air of negative energy floating around, which can help you feel more relaxed and focused on your work/tasks at hand. You can buy the sage spray from any health food store or burn some dried white sage on a designated excellent burner. Take care not to breathe in the smoke when you are burning sage because it can make you cough or feel nauseous.
4) Prayers: This is my last resort that I only use if I’m still surrounded by negative energy after using the above practices, but it also works very well. Call on your guardian angel or higher power to guide away any negative energy surrounding you. You can do this silently in your head or aloud with a few friends for a more significant effect.

I used to go through my day on an emotionally and physically drained tank. It wasn’t until I started learning about the reality of energy that I realized how off-track I was with my daily self-care.

It wasn’t until I stepped back did I realize how off course things had gotten.
With all of this said, simply thinking about protecting your energy will go a long way. Your thoughts alone can affect your reality and shape how you experience the world. While we can’t control many of the things that happen to us, we can control our thoughts and perceptions.

This is always my go-to when I feel overwhelmed or about to throw a tantrum because I’m so tired. When you’re feeling depleted, getting grounded will help balance your body’s energy centers (chakras), give you a firm foundation in the present moment, and connect you to Mother Earth – who supports us all unconditionally. You can do a quick grounding meditation by visualizing roots growing from the soles of your feet going deep into the Earth’s core.
2. Meditate
There are many benefits to meditation, but keeping up with this practice has been one of the best ways to reduce my stress and anxiety levels (which is excellent for protecting your energy). When you meditate consistently, you’ll be able to keep yourself balanced in the present moment, reduce repetitive negative thoughts, improve your ability to handle difficult emotions, and connect to higher realms which can help bring about positive change in your life. Even if your mind is racing when you sit down to meditate, stay with it! Practice makes perfect.
3. Make Time To Rest & Relax
Sleep may seem like the enemy when everything around us moves so quickly. But it’s one of the most important things we can do for ourselves to protect our energy (and our sanity!).
I’ve noticed that when I get less than six hours of sleep, my energy levels tank big time. Also, not getting enough sleep has been linked to cardiovascular disease and is terrible for your skin. Try these simple tips if you’re having trouble falling asleep at night. If you wake up feeling tired despite sleeping eight hours, you might be doing too much during the day, draining your energy reserves.

Our intuition comes from a place beyond the mind; therefore, controlling it is like stopping the wind. We usually suppress our intuition with thoughts like “that’s crazy” or “I must be imagining things.” Our thoughts can’t change our reality as much as we think they do.
